Scrip Basics

What is Scrip?
"Scrip" are gift certificates and cards issued by many stores in our community where you already shop regularly. Non-profit organizations are able to buy these certificates at a negotiated discount and resell them to you at full face value. The discount, which is up to 20%, is retained by the non-profit.
Does it cost you any extra?
Your participation does not cost you anything! For example, you buy $400 worth of certificates for Top Foods for one month's worth of groceries. PACE was able to purchase those certificates for $380, so Top Foods has, in essence, donated $20 to PACE. You receive $400 worth of certificates for $400 worth of groceries, and the $20 goes toward PACE.
Is it easy to use?
Scrip is very easy to use. Use Scrip just like cash; you can use manufacturers' coupons and buy things on sale. There is no difference between Scrip and cash when you go shopping, except that you are using gift certificates for that particular store. Scrip is available for a wide variety of stores, such as Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc... (see Stocked Items)
How do you order Scrip?
Scrip is available for sale each Friday morning in the PACE lobby from 8:30-9:15, and again in the afternoon from 2:30-3:15. Payment is accepted in either cash or check (made out to "Pace at Wellington Scrip").
When will you receive your Scrip order?
Scrip is typically re-ordered from distributors on Monday morning, for arrival on Wednesday (which gives some time to sort through the order). If you have a special order for something that is not normally stocked, it can be added to the order if received before 8 PM on Sunday. The special order is normally available at the next sales time.
